Resilience-Based Counseling with Marginalized Youth

Presenter: Dr. Joseph Williams, Professor, School of Education and Human Development, University of Virginia

This interactive workshop introduces a strength and resilience-based approach to counseling and psychotherapy with children and adolescents who experience marginalization. Rarely are counselors and therapists taught how to identify, appreciate, and utilize client/student strengths to deal with existing problems. Participants will leave with research-based, practical, and effective strategies for assessing and using client/student strengths and resources in school-based and community-based counseling.
