2015/16 academic year UNC-PrimeCare trainee

Daniel Agha-BallDaniel Agha-Ball, a UNC-PrimeCare and Substance Use and Addictions Specialist (SUAS) trainee, graduated from the MSW program at UNC-Chapel Hill in 2016. After graduation, Danny began working in eastern North Carolina for PORT Health Services, a behavioral healthcare organization. Danny’s first position was to deliver treatment and coordinate a Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP). He worked closely with the medical staff and the treatment team addressing the pharmacological and other healthcare needs of PORT clients. Danny‘s role grew to include conducting comprehensive clinical assessments and formulate treatment recommendations. In 2018, Danny was promoted to an administrative position, and now serves as the Program Supervisor for the PORT Rocky Mount clinic. In this role, he supervises the clinical team and support staff, manages the day-to-day operations at the clinic, including a mobile crisis team, lab and pharmacy services. According to Danny, “PrimeCare and my field placement propelled my career. I learned the skills needed to competently work as part of an interdisciplinary team.”
